Meet the Aspen + Run Bundle: a safe home, day and night.

You want fresh eggs and a flock that scratches around the yard. What you don't want is to find a hole dug under the fence in the morning, or a raccoon that figured out the latch.

The Aspen + Run Bundle closes every gap. It pairs the mid-raised Aspen coop β€” 70% recycled plastic, Sage Green and Anthracite β€” with its matching fully enclosed run, protected on all sides and along the ground by an anti-dig skirt. Inside, the coop door is held shut by our Door Locking System, so nothing with paws can work it open at night.

The rest stays as easy as every Nestera: surfaces that rinse clean with a hose, ventilation your hens actually need, and a material that looks the same in ten years as it does today.

Here are the 5 reasons chicken keepers choose the Aspen + Run Bundle.

#1 Β· A run predators can't climb, chew β€” or dig under

Image du produit

Fully enclosed Aspen Run with anti-dig skirt β€” included

Most attacks don't come through the door. They come from above (hawks), from the side (dogs, foxes) and, most often, from below β€” a fox or raccoon digs a few inches and it's inside before dawn.

The Aspen Run is enclosed on every side, including a roof panel, and its anti-dig skirt runs outward along the ground around the whole perimeter. A predator that starts digging at the wall hits mesh, not soil, and gives up.

βœ“ Enclosed on all sides, roof included β€” safe from hawks and climbers
βœ“ Anti-dig skirt around the full perimeter β€” nothing tunnels in
βœ“ Attaches directly to the Aspen coop β€” no gap between coop and run
βœ“ Full-height access door so you can walk in to feed, water and collect
βœ“ Included in the bundle β€” a $299 accessory, free

#2 Β· Built to keep predators out β€” and to let you sleep

#2 Β· Built to keep raccoons out β€” and to let you sleep

Door Locking System β€” the second line of defence, on the coop itself

The run stops predators at the perimeter. The coop is the last line, and it holds. Raccoons open flip latches; foxes push panels. The Aspen answers both: the access door is secured by our Door Locking System β€” a lock that needs a hand, not a paw β€” set in rigid 7mm recycled plastic walls with no gaps, no weak joints and nothing to chew through.

Add the Smart Auto Door (optional accessory) and the pop-hole closes itself at dusk, whether you're home or not.

βœ“ Door Locking System β€” no simple latch a raccoon can lift
βœ“ Solid plastic panels β€” nothing to chew, pry or rot through
βœ“ Raised 10.5" off the ground β€” dry floor, nowhere to hide underneath
βœ“ Behind the run, locked at night: two barriers between your hens and anything with teeth

#3 Β· Cleaning that takes ten minutes, not a Saturday

Image du produit

Easy Cleaning

Wooden coops absorb everything. The Aspen absorbs nothing. Open the wide side door, lift out the perches and nest boxes, and rinse β€” garden hose or pressure washer, no chemicals. Smooth, non-porous plastic dries in minutes and gives red mites nowhere to hide.

βœ“ Large side access door β€” reach every corner without crawling in
βœ“ Removable perches, nest boxes and roof
βœ“ Hose-clean or pressure-washer safe
βœ“ No cracks, no splinters, no mite hiding spots
βœ“ Add Droppings Trays and it's a 5-minute job

#4 Β· Fresh air without drafts. Comfortable in every season.

A closed, secure coop still has to breathe. The Aspen's adjustable ventilation sits above head height, so moist air and ammonia leave while the hens roost out of the draft β€” cool in a Georgia July, dry in a Michigan January. Thick plastic walls insulate far better than thin ply, and the covered area under the coop gives shade and shelter in the run.

βœ“ Adjustable ventilation β€” airflow without drafts
βœ“ Rounded-edge perches for a good night's roost
βœ“ Individual nest boxes with easy egg access
βœ“ Covered shelter underneath for shade and rain
βœ“ Sage Green / Anthracite β€” HOA-friendly, garden-friendly

#5 Β· The last coop you'll buy β€” 10-Year Warranty

The coop that outlasts wood 5 to 1

That $300 wooden coop from Amazon looks fine the day it arrives. Two winters later it's warped, the roof felt has peeled, and the mites have moved in. The Aspen is built from 7mm-thick, 70% recycled HDPE β€” UV-stable, rot-proof, and covered by a 10-Year Warranty.

βœ“ Never rots, warps or absorbs moisture
βœ“ No painting, sealing or re-felting β€” ever
βœ“ UV-resistant color that won't chalk or fade
βœ“ 10-Year Warranty on all plastic components
βœ“ Ships flat, coop assembles in about 1 hour, no tools needed

frequently asked questions

  • How does the run stop predators from digging in?

Most night-time attacks on backyard flocks don't come through a door β€” they come from underneath. A fox, coyote or raccoon digs a few inches at the base of a fence and is inside before dawn. The Aspen Run is built to stop exactly that: the heavy-gauge welded mesh doesn't end at the wall, it continues outward along the ground as an 8-inch anti-dig skirt around the whole perimeter of the run. A predator that starts digging at the wall hits mesh instead of soil, can't get its paws under, and gives up. You don't need to bury the run, pour a footing or lay paving around it β€” the skirt sits flat on the lawn, and on soft ground you can pin it with the supplied pegs. Because nothing is buried, the whole coop + run can be lifted and moved to a fresh patch of grass whenever you like. Combined with the mesh roof and the locked coop, it gives your hens a fully closed space from the ground up.

  • Can a raccoon open the coop door?

No. Raccoons are the most common cause of coop break-ins in the US because they can lift a flip latch or slide a bolt with their paws. The Aspen's large access door is secured by our Door Locking System, which needs a hand to operate β€” there is no simple latch to flick open. The walls are rigid recycled plastic panels with no gaps, joints or thin plywood to chew or pry through, and the coop sits 10.5 inches off the ground on solid legs, so there is nothing to tunnel under and no hiding spot beneath it. At night your hens roost inside the locked coop, not in the run. A raccoon may be able to push a paw through the run's mesh, but it cannot get its body, head or jaws through, and a paw alone is not enough to grab or seriously harm a hen that is roosting safely in the coop. For the pop-hole, you can add the optional Smart Auto Door so it closes itself at dusk and opens at dawn, whether you're home or not.

  • Is the run covered on top, or can hawks get in?

The run is fully enclosed on every side, including a welded-mesh roof panel, so your hens are protected from hawks and owls from above as well as from climbing predators like raccoons and cats. The run attaches directly to the coop with no gap between the two, and it extends under the raised coop, so the coop and run form one continuous closed space: the flock can move between the coop, the sheltered area underneath it and the open run without ever being exposed. The only openings are the coop's locked access door and the run's full-height access door, both of which you control.

  • How many hens fit in each bundle?

The Aspen 6 + Run Bundle is sized for up to 6 medium hens (4 large hens or 11 bantams) with 2 nest boxes and 2 perches; its run is 33 inches wide. The Aspen 10 + Run Bundle is sized for up to 10 medium hens (8 large hens or 18 bantams) with 3 nest boxes and 3 perches; its run is 41 inches wide. Both runs are 9 feet long, which includes the sheltered space under the raised coop, so the total footprint is roughly 9 ft Γ— 3 ft for the Aspen 6 and 9 ft Γ— 3.5 ft for the Aspen 10. Each bundle ships with the run sized to match its coop. If you plan to grow your flock, or you keep larger breeds like Orpingtons or Brahmas, choose the Aspen 10 β€” and remember that in both cases the run is a secure outdoor space, not a replacement for daytime free-ranging if you can offer it.

  • Is the run meant to be a permanent enclosure, and should I move it?

Think of the Aspen Run as a secure daytime run rather than a permanent pen. It gives your hens a safe, enclosed space for a few hours a day β€” early morning before you're up, while you're out, or whenever you can't keep an eye on the yard β€” and it protects them from predators while they're out of the coop. It is not designed to confine a flock 24/7: hens are happier and healthier with regular free-ranging time, and the run has a full-height access door so you can simply open it and let them out when someone is around. Because nothing is buried or fixed, we recommend moving the coop + run every week or two onto fresh grass. Your hens get new ground to scratch, the lawn recovers, droppings don't build up in one spot, and the anti-dig skirt sits just as securely in the new position.

  • How long does assembly take?

Most customers assemble the Aspen coop in about an hour with no special tools β€” all parts are numbered and ship with an illustrated guide. The run panels clip together and attach to the coop; allow a little extra time to lay out and peg the anti-dig skirt. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us and we'll ship replacements immediately.

  • Is the Aspen safe in very hot or very cold climates?

Yes. The thick recycled plastic walls insulate far better than thin plywood, and the adjustable ventilation sits above head height so moist air leaves while the hens roost out of the draft. In hot weather, place the coop in shade; the UV-resistant roof reflects the sun and the covered area under the raised coop gives the flock shade inside the run. In winter the same ventilation keeps the coop dry, which matters more than warmth.

  • When and where does it ship from?

All bundles dispatch within 2 business days from our distribution facility in Cincinnati, OH. The coop and the run ship as separate packages and you'll receive tracking for each by email. Hawaii and Alaska are excluded from free shipping β€” contact us for a quote.
